HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS

The Melrose Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that the Melrose  tradition “Home for the Holidays” will be held on Dec. 2-3.

The Home for the Holidays fun will start on Friday, Dec. 2 on City Hall lawn  at approximately 6 p.m. with a tree lighting ceremony, Christmas caroling, and,  of course, the arrival of Santa Claus on Main Street.

On Saturday, Dec. 3, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., the Beantown trolleys will  weave through the streets of Melrose, bringing shoppers to the neighborhoods of  Melrose where the businesses, schools and churches have opened their doors to  welcome visitors.

Each neighborhood offers something unique, including: “reindeer” rides,  Christmas tree and wreath sales, hayrides with Santa, holiday crafts, wonderful  holiday food and warm beverages, and more.

Shops in Melrose will be open as well, ready to greet the holiday shoppers  with a broad array of unique gifts. Look for the full schedule of events on the  Chamber of Commerce website, melrosechamber.org.

Its Winter Sales Promotion for owner-occupant buyers includes:

  • Paying up to 3 percent of the final sales price toward the buyer’s closing costs for initial offers received between Nov. 15 and Jan. 31, 2012. Escrow must be closed on or before March 15, 2012, to qualify.
  • A $1,000 selling agent bonus is also available for offers received in that timeframe. The bonus is available in 28 states and the District of Columbia, including: Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Utah, Virginia, Vermont, Wisconsin, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
  • Two-year Home Protect limited home warranty, which covers such things as the heating, air conditioning, electrical, plumbing, and other major systems and appliances. Melrose ~ Clean-up Day for Hazardous Waste

Melrose has "Drop off Day" this Saturday, Nov. 19, from 9 - noon at the City
Yard on Tremont Street.  Melrose residents only. Bulk plastics including
toy pools, lawn furniture, plastic big wheels, plastic play houses will be
accepted for no charge. Tires, fluorescent bulbs, mercury thermometers and
cell phones.

$7 fee for each TV and computer monitor.  $2 for car tires, $8 for truck
tires.

Microwaves and air conditioners are metal goods and cost $15 for curbside
pick-up. Cannot drop at city yard.
